FALL 2019

From the Orchard: Cooking with Local Apples!   Appleton Farms, Ipswich October 3rd, 6-8:30 pm

It’s apple season in New England and we’re honoring this favorite crop in our farm kitchen!  We’ll prepare a complete menu including both sweet & savory dishes using apples sourced from local orchards, with recipes such as Curried Apple Chutney paired with Farm Cheese, Roasted Delicata Squash & Apple Salad with Honey-Lemon Dressing, Individual Pork & Apple Pot Pies, and Upside-Down Cider Cake.  Class includes hands-on cooking with chef instruction, printed recipe booklet, and a wonderful apple harvest supper at the end of the evening!  BYOB beer & wine allowed.

The Harvest Table    Appleton Farms, Ipswich October 23rd, 6-8:30 pm

Crisp Autumn days and the beautiful bounty of the fall harvest has inspired us to get cooking!  We’re celebrating this favorite New England season by preparing a delicious seasonal menu filled with foods sourced right from the farms & fields.  Recipes such as Maple & Bacon Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Beet & Tart Apple Salad with Goat Cheese, Root Vegetable Bolognese with Grass-Fed Farm Beef, and a wonderful Cranberry-Pecan Harvest Tart, along with culinary tips and techniques for working with these seasonal crops.  Class includes hands-on cooking with chef instruction, printed recipe booklet, and a wonderful autumn harvest supper at the end of the evening!  BYOB beer & wine allowed.

Sweet as Pie Culinary Class   Appleton Farms, Ipswich November 9th, 10:00-Noon

Its pie time and we have you covered for the Thanksgiving holiday!  Join us in the farm kitchen as we learn all the basics for making delicious country-style pies including techniques on tender pie crust, rolling & assembly, and proper baking.…..all while keeping it fun, simple, and stress-free. Everyone will make & take home an unbaked 9″ deep dish Apple-Cranberry Pie to bake for the holiday!  Plus, we’ll savor another seasonal pie favorite, and share additional pie recipes in the recipe book.  Class will enjoy coffee & pie at the end of the workshop. BYOB is allowed.

Thanksgiving on the Farm: A Culinary Celebration   Appleton Farms, Ipswich  November 15th, 6-9 pm

We’re honoring the Thanksgiving tradition with a very special culinary evening in the farm kitchen. This workshop is a great primer for your family holiday celebration as we prepare a complete Thanksgiving feast from A-Z!   Our menu will include updated versions of some of the classics, along with helpful tips on planning & preparing things ahead to keep the holiday simple & stress free.  Plenty of turkey talk as well as we cover everything from safe handling, roasting, stuffing, and carving.  Recipes such as Herb-Roasted Turkey with Cranberry-Pear Relish, Sausage, Apple, & Herb Stuffing, Onion Gratin with Farm Cheese, Root Veggie Mash, and amazing Pumpkin Pie Trifle with Farm Cream…..yum.   The evening ends with our very own Thanksgiving feast in the farmhouse dining room!  Byob beer & wine allowed.     Class includes hands-on cooking with chef instruction, printed recipe booklet, & dinner.
